The City of Edinburgh Council has been shortlisted for one of Scotland's
top Transport Awards for its implementation of RingGo cashless
parking. The service is recognised within the Technology and Innovation
category of the 2011 Scottish Transport Awards.
The submission
made by the City of Edinburgh Council describes the rapid growth of pay
by phone usage since RingGo's launch in August 2010. Within months of
roll out, the value of transactions taken by RingGo has achieved a
significant proportion of total revenue. The RingGo Corporate service
is also used widely by Council employees, NHS Lothian and private
businesses.
Supported by the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland, and now in their 9th year, the Scottish Transport Awards
are about recognising and rewarding real improvements to local transport
in Scotland.
Winning entries will be announced at a ceremony on
16th June 2011 in the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow. Hosted by Grant
Stott, radio and television presenter, the Awards provide an excellent
opportunity to showcase new initiatives whilst providing an environment
which brings Scotland's transport community closer together.
