| Parking specialist, Cobalt Telephone Technologies, hopes to harmonise pay-by-phone across London as it rolls out its RingGo parking system in its fifth borough in the capital. The company, the only one operating in London to have contracts with more than two local authorities, extends its lead in the pay-by-phone parking market, as Brent Council signs up to roll out the service on a trial basis. From today (21 July), people using council operated on-street parking in the Wembley area and off-street car parks can pay by phone using a credit or debit card, as well as by cash. Brent follows Ealing, Hounslow, Lewisham and Southwark in signing up with RingGo. With five of London's 33 local authorities now offering the same cashless parking systems paying for parking is made much easier and there is a harmonised and familiar system for drivers parking in any of these boroughs. RingGo hopes this will soon be extended further across the capital. Before choosing RingGo, officers from Brent Council contacted a number of other councils about their experience of pay-by-phone services. Positive reports from the nearby London Boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow were influential in the decision. Cllr Daniel Brown, Lead Member for Highways and Transportation at Brent Council, says: "With the introduction of the new pay-by-phone parking service, we are aiming to make it easier for people to pay when parking around Wembley and in our off street car parks." "The fact that the service is widely available across both central and outer boroughs of London is an additional bonus - people living locally can register just the once and use the same method of parking in several boroughs across the capital."
