Motorists who park their cars in High Wycombe, Marlow or Princes Risborough, will be able to pay for their parking, for durations of one hour or more, via their mobile phone thanks to an innovative scheme starting in June.
Introduced by Wycombe District Council, the scheme called RingGo, which is already being used with success across the First Great Western rail network and elsewhere, will be rolled out across most of the WDC run Pay and Display car parks within the district.
Having parked their car, motorists simply call the landline number advertised in the car park, key in a four digit location code from the signage, give their car registration number and provide authorisation for the fee to be taken directly from their credit or debit card.
Wycombe District Council's Cabinet Member for Wellbeing and Neighbourhoods, Councillor Audrey Jones, believes it will be a major benefit and more convenient to local residents and visitors to the district. She commented: "We recognise that not everyone these days remembers to carry enough loose change, and many people are using mobile phones to pay for services. We are in the business of making life better for those we serve. Giving individuals a wider choice of payment options will certainly make parking much easier for many and will, we trust help stimulate the local economy."
Wycombe District Council now provides a range of payment options including Permits, Scratchcards, credit card payments, coins and now your mobile phone. There is a charge of twenty pence for motorists choosing to use this more enhanced convenient service. Regular ticket machines for motorists who prefer to pay by coin will continue to be available for use at every location. |
