A further enhancement of the CrewCall system from Cobalt as used by the leading charter carrier airline JMC is to be implemented this month. The new functionality allows flight deck and cabin crew members to record details of their training records in accordance with emergent Civil Aviation Authority requirements.
Notably, this change is only the second alteration to the business functionality of the Cobalt system since its deployment in 1999, during which time it has taken over 1 million calls.
"Experience has given us considerable confidence in the resilience and reliability of our Cobalt system" said JMC Crew Scheduling Manager Jeremy Probets. "Rather than use paper based records to meet this new need, we have chosen to ask Cobalt to contribute to a solution whereby training logs are held in the form of voice recordings. The CAA have been supportive of this innovative approach and we feel sure that this method will be not only more efficient, but considerably more cost-effective as well".
